Guillermo Rotman of Regus Business Centers says it doesn't have to be so difficult. Regus offers "pre-made" offices for companies at all stages of success.

Regus says that if you aren't sure how big your company will become, or even how long it may last, renting from them for shorter periods or even month to month can work. 

At a time when the economy is relatively unstable, Regus says they offer their clients a very unique opportunity without forcing them to lock into a long-term contract. 

"You want to stay flexible because since you don't know whether there's going to be a recession," said Rotman. "You don't want to stay committed to expenses that you may not be able to afford." 

Meredith Garcia recently founded The Fashion List, a small business that is predominantly web-based, providing insider information to the fashion industry. She says since she regularly sets up meetings with clients, it has really helped to have a clean, professional, fully-equipped office to receive people. 

"It's a legitimacy that an apartment can't have," said Garcia. "The receptionist is wonderful. They're extremely professional." 

Clients like her say they take advantage of the receptionist, the cafeteria, which offers with free coffee service, the copiers, and the manager who is on their floor every day. For those who aren't sure if they need an office space, but just want a "virtual office" where calls can be forwarded to a receptionist and mail can be received, that is something you can set up as well. 

Regus even has offices that can be used for a day or a few hours. 

"The good thing about Regus is that you can always upgrade," said Rotman. "Like our client, The Fashion List, it opted for a cheaper office, but when their business starts to expand, they can acquire more services."
