When we read the daily newspapers, we mostly read about the negative things that happen all of the time. So The WEb"MAster decided to show all of the positive residents that actually live within Brooklyn. Coach Mike Antoine runs his own Youth Basketball Team Called Brooklyn Express and helps to mentor the youth that have and the ones that are not to sure where they are going. yet in life. Coach Mike plows the tuff road ahead for the youth making the trail of life much smoother for them to walk on. Most residents within ENY & Brownsville Brooklyn are not really bad people. Its the lack of opportunity that makes alot of good people, stray through to the other side and many times can't find their way back. Remember you can't go into the corner Grocery Store and buy a perfect quality of life road map. Education is number one, but also remember every one was not cut out to go to College either and many Board of Education Local Schools have gotten rid of industrial shops, glee club choirs, home making cooking classes and every one was not cut out to master computers, just like everybody was not cut out to drive an eighteen wheel truck. So now you actually see why when many teenagers go to school today, why many of them get bored and drop out. When I attended JHS 218 during the 1960's my age group had alot of choices that many of today's youth do not have. I personally had ceramics, wood, blue print reading, and machine shops to learn from. The youth of today need direction in and when they get out of school and that is where guys like Coach Mike and myself The WEb"MAster come in. We don't know or have all of the answers but life is a continuing learning experience until the day you die. Through time you gain more knowledge as you go along, similar to touching a hot stove plate, once you touch it even doe someone was telling you not to touch it you might have still touched it and, you got burned. It's called, " The School of Hard Knocks " ! We can't reach every one but when you are young you think you already know every thing, but you really don't some learn faster than others some slower, but all learn in their own way and time. There are many good hearted Brothers and Sisters that I have personally met throughout the year's who have volunteered their time without a second thought. They have networked with local politicians, and business leaders just to make a kids day become a " GREAT ROCKING CHAIR MEMORY "! My Friend Coach Irving Falk Who Is Now DECEASED , Sam Washington who reopened P.S 13 after school center WITH MONEY STRAIGHT OUT of HIS OWN POCKET Like The WEbMAster did for JHS 218, JUST TO GIVE THE YOUTH IN THE HOOD A CHANCE AT LIVING A BETTER DAY, My 3rd Grade Classmate The One and only Willie Battle Who Opened Imani Altisamo With Funding From The Walt Disney Corporation and Other Funding Organizations On Pennsylvania Ave Between Pitkin & Glenmore Avenue's Who Is Now DECEASED, Coach Mike, Coach Germaine, Perry McNeil, Ms. Veberly Russell of Cypress Hills Projects ENY now DECEASED, Ms. Lanier, Mr. Cave Manager of Cypress Hills Projects ENY, Ms Williams, Roy & Victoria Armstead, and many others to many to name are just some of my hero's still fighting on the front lines as soldiers against Despair, Idleness, HIV/AIDS, Drugs, and Mentoring the youth of tomorrow, today. I'am proud to say that I have personally met each of them, worked with them, and I'am proud under the sun and a star lit sky to have worked and fought side by side together, winning small decisive battles in the slippery and cold muddy East New York and Brownsville trenches in the war against poverty and despair. Each of us without fear for our own lives fought on the front lines in the war against poverty and joined in the battle without getting paid, without carrying guns, hard as a rock, able to street box but now without putting up our hands, able to " KNOCKOUT ", the toughest man and women by, melting their hearts without saying a word, and still win in the ring of " HOPE " by the deeds we do on a daily basics. Our ammo, providing LOVE, HUGS, Guidance, Smiles and Lending an Ear, just to make a difference in the youth of tomorrow, " Starting Today " ! Both Of Coach Mike Antoines Brooklyn Express Teams Are The SHOWSTOPPER 2004 Basketball Tournaments Bantum & Junior Division 2nd Place Winners.
